Just a reminder to anyone planning on hunting Fellsmere. I have been asked to remind you...The north canal that runs east and west adjacent to Goodwin Rd. (6 mile rd) is closed and is a construction site. You don't want to be caught in that canal with a gun. So even if you were planning to just dump your canoe in the water on the road to get to center canal, you will be commiting a serious crime if you get caught with a gun there. You may have company at your vehicle coming back out. Just a warning.
Second,
The levee along the western border of Fellsmere Marsh is lined with boulders and rocks and the impoundment gets very violent at times. Because of the lack of vegetation and structure on Stick Marsh, it's not uncommon to have 3 foot white-caps pound that levee. There have already been folks that have swamped their boats by portaging along this levee while scouting.
