All STA's are open as scheduled this weekend...there will be some adjustments to parking and access to certain levees. See posts on Members Only Forum

The $25 membership price is nothing compared to the "inside" information that will be available to you.

Right Guys? ;)

I hope your eye gets better Dan. I also hope your mind recovers also because you sure did cause a ruckus on this public forum asking all kinds of questions. For 25 bucks you could have had all the info you wanted. It would have been automatically emailed to you once you posted on the members side if you were subscribed to the post. Last but not least 25 bucks is nothing compared to the STA's not being open. UW is mostly responsible for their existence! Join the party it's never too late!

I will join as soon as possible.....STA's are open to the public...I know y'all did alot of work to get them open and i thank you for that.....The maps are public information and I as well as others believe that they should made accessable to everyone.....Not just to those that have paid the membership.....Food for thought.

Maps????, What we do is give scouting reports on a volunteer basis on the Members Only site....usually not too detailed, but better than what you will get elsewhere.

The reason for my very detailed report on STA 1W was because Scouting day was canceled and I happened to be on the STA helping adjust the parking and access arrangements.....as well as STA 3/4 and had info from a worker on STA 5.....Our members were able to have this information because of our work with the agencies and when UW-F can do something to help our members have a better duck hunt we will.....Hope you join up....Not just for the info, but to help us in our mission to Make duck hunting better for Florida's duck hunters!

Dan - you make a valid point. However, we are not the "keepers" of this information, it is public as you stated and is available. We will not however provide this information freely to those that are not members, You will have to do your own digging to find it - it's out there, just not always in the most obvious place.

UW is not some secret ducking society that has access to information not provided to the general public (well OK, maybe we do have some :booty: ), but our organization interacts with all the controlling organizations, i.e. SFWMD, and we often get information sooner or in more detail than that is released to the general public. This is just one of the benefits of membership.

Dan, dont take it personaly but info is not freely passed in the public forum. We encourage people to join so we can publish our news letter, send out info to STA permit holders, and offset the cost of many other sevices we provide to duck hunters. The members only forum is one of the perks of membership.

I just recently joined and I can't tell you how valuable this group is! It is like having a bunch of duck hunting uncles and cousins and getting together every day to have lunch together. I praise the Lord for this organization!!!! We wouldn't have as many places to hunt, and we wouldn't know where to go to hunt half of the existing place if this organization didn't put their blood sweat and tears into something they love. I quote from a conversation I had with Wilbur on the phone a few weeks ago "duck hunters are a fraternity" and this organization make it possible for us to all interact and learn from each other.

Thank you to everyone that has & does anything and everything in their power to make duck hunting in florida better for everyone (even non-members).

Dan, I saw your request on FFAH but as was said before...membership has its privileges and one of them is being amongst some truely dedicated waterfowlers... who WILL go the extra mile to help a fellow member out with info.
I can tell you that the fight for our rights is neither easy nor cheap and if you saw out 12 page full color ( thanks David!) newsletter you would know how much is REALLY getting done. Since you hold a STA permit..look in your mailbox for the STA mailing we sent out to all users! Getting the access is one thing..keeping is another!
Think about the membership money as a couple boxes of shells.... not alot when you know how much its buying.

thats a very good way to illustrate how cheap yet effective membership can be like abox of remington premier hevi shot not to costly but very effective and worth every penny

No offense taken....I know what yall stand for and support every bit of it.....I will pay my dues as soon as I can.....I read the article in the Sun-Sentinal today about UW-F and N. Cook..The part they really struck me was about the father making $35 grand a year trying to take his son out hunting....Well I am the student and the only hunter in my family that has been unemplyed for the past 3 months trying to make it through EMT classes and having enough money to enjoy my true passion duck hunting......This weekend I will not be in the blind due to doctor orders.....I sustained a serious injury in my right eye while fishing with my friend over a week ago and lucky to even have my eye.....The weekend of Thanksgiving I was offered a deer hunt in Tenn. and will not be able to hunt until the second phase of duck season...O well....God willing I will have another 50 + duck season infront of me....As a 19 year old studying to become a Firefighter/Paramedic my vision is more important right now....Everyone good luck in the morning

P.S. sorry if I caused any problem on this forum....I will be a member shortly

You have not caused a problem and we look forward to your membership....all you did was give members a chance to point out UW-F benefits to a new person on the forums...Happens a lot.

Dan, I trust the eye issue will work itself out. Good luck with your EMT Class..I have been a Public Safety officer ( Police officer/firefighter/emt) for almost 27 years... a great profession...So good my son(Ironeyes on the forum) Went thru school after the Navy and has been a Paramedic in I.R. County for 3 years.

Hope that your season is a good one! :)
