My vizla pup seems to be a little tail sensitive , but not to the point it is a crying screaming fit when you touch it. He is not holding it straight up as before. It has a little "s" shape to it now. I don't know if it is a growth spirt or what. It has no affect on his energy level and he is not biting at it. Should I be concerned?

Could be a borken or bruised tail. In most cases, allowing it to heal is about the only option. I have never done surgery for one and most heal fairly straight, although some have been a little crooked? Does the pup have a full tail?

It is 3/4 dock. I thought you couldn't do anything for it. Thanks for the reply.

Some of my chessies and others have gotten "limp tail" from playing hard and aggressively diving into water. It has always gone away on its own. A week or two is usually enough time. A friend of mine shows a big chessie out of Ft. Lauderdale. He ("Stormy") turned up at a dog show with his tail hanging like a plumb bob. Everyone was whispering that he must have had his (slightly curly) tail doctored (yes, this does happen) and the vet overdid it. A couple of weeks it was back to normal. Just another case of "limp tail".
