Had to go into work for a couple hours this morning.Got home about 0800,going to take Mrs.DD to breakfast so I grabbed the camera "just in case".Saw this turtle crossing the road about 2 blocks from the house.
As I was laying middle the street taking the picture a car pulled up and asked Mrs.DD if I was OK?..I just chuckled and thought to myself,yep just going to get run over taking a picture of a stupid turtle

Ok, I'm not up to speed with my knowledge of testudines. What it is? Looks similar to a S.A. River Turtle.

I too thought it was a softshell with some kind deformed hump back?

I was watching a Jeff Corwin show with my students and he caught a turtle in the amazon that looked just like that. He said it was a South American river turtle. The juveniles don't have the pronounced hump on the shell.
