Randy, I use my mud motor for everything. It's not a fast form of transportation but works well for fishing also. If you already have an outboard just swap motors between hunting and fishing.

Oh by the way, several of our sponcers are dealers of mud motors. I bought mine from Todd Stone, our Beavertail banner sponcer. They appreciate our businness and will usually do a good deal for UW-F members.

I use my Prodrive for everything - one boat, one motor....

thanks didnt know how easy it is to swap out what about usinmg with tunnel hulls

Tunnels are not that advantageous with a MM, either short or long tail. I would recommend getting with a dealer and having them put a motor on your boat for a test drive.
You can always weld a plate over the tunnel.... Also, if your running a v-bow boat, you will only be able to run as shallow as the hull will allow. Especially around here with the hard bottoms we have.

The few I have seen for sale are still getting a pretty good price. Not much reduction from new. Longtails on the other hand are selling well below previous used price levels due to the short tails hitting the market.

Are the new short shaft motors built to handle salt water, galvanized and stainless?
I'm sorry I didn't get a galvanized frame on my long shaft. It is used all year in the lagoon salt. It is three years old and has had to be repainted twice.

My PD is faring very well. The paint they use on the frame is tough as nails, and I have not had any rust or corrosion (except in the normal places - hardware, muffler, carb. linkage) to make me worry. I am also not diligent about rinsing off after spending time in the lagoon.

my buddy is asking $3900 for his. he bought it last year for $4900. he had no idea what it was worth and call and asked mud buddy and they told him $3700-4000.
on another note, a different buddy called yesterday and is selling his godevil longshaft vanguard 23 for $1500. has new fuel pump and all new seals. if anyone is interested in that, let me know and i will give you his name and number.
