The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) today announced the season dates and regulations for the 2003-2004 waterfowl hunting seasons.
Duck and coot season dates are from Nov. 22-30 and Dec. 6 Jan. 25. Canvasback and pintail ducks will be legal to take Nov. 22-30 and Dec. 6-26 only. Also, Jan. 31 Feb. 1 will be Youth Waterfowl Hunting Days, during which children under 16 years old may hunt under supervision of non-hunting adults.
The daily bag limit for ducks is six, including:
no more than four mallards (with a maximum of two hen mallards);
one mottled duck (Florida duck);
one pintail (only during the pintail season);
two redheads;
three scaup;
one black duck;
one fulvous whistling duck;
one canvasback (only during the
canvasback season);
two wood ducks;
four scoters.
All other species of duck (except harlequin) may be taken up to the six-duck daily limit. The daily bag limit for coots is 15.
There is a limited Canada goose season from Nov. 22 Jan. 30. The daily bag limit is five. Canada geese may be taken only in the Florida waters of Lake Seminole in Jackson County that are south of S.R. 2, north of the Jim Woodruff Dam, and east of S.R. 271.
In addition, a limited light goose season is set for Nov. 22-30 and Dec. 6 Jan. 25 in an area north and west of the Suwannee River. Light geese include snow geese, both blue and white phases and Ross geese. The daily bag limit is 15.
