After Kevin sent me some great stuff to help me identify Ducks I poked around a little. So here are a few links for all kinds of info including Waterfowl ID.

Try the Ident-I-cards , they can be purchased online at www.identicards.com.

I bought several sets for the new FWC Law officers in our area. They are waterproof and inexpensive.

He is not kidding about the FWC officers needing them.....I keep an id book with me just in case! Not being too critical of the officers, most are fishing oriented and do little in the way of waterfowling duty...I spoke with Nick Wiley, Director Hunting FWC, on the subject, offering UW-F to do ID classes.

Last year I had an officer telling me a widgeon was a gadwall until I just stopped arguing....yep your right, that's a gadwall, can't miss the green slash on its head!

Similarly, we suggest members have the brochure for any nearby WMA when they hunt marshes bordering them. Disputes are easy to settle if you have a copy of the "rules".

I once had a FWC guy tell me that Blue Runners had to be 12 inches.

Now that is a big bait. :icon_salu

Newton,

Could UWF spring for a few more sets of the cards? Maybe they could be given to the newbies when they hit the Regional Office for orientation.
The Mrs. is understanding to some degree, she just won't let me buy a dozen sets for the kids in green.

They sent me booklets, not the cards.... I will have some at the Oct. 15 Bass Pro Shop Orlando event. I can mail a few also.

Newton,
I have a bunch of the books that I pass out each year to hunters and such.
Take a look at the website that I listed and tell me what you think.

The cards are very realistic and almost show and tell material. Maybe we can put out a plee for help from our members.

It is worth a try. I spend more each year on BS that I don't need.

I am not sure if my memebership is up for renewal or not. UWF sent me some raffle tickets. I cannot locate them. I want to purchase several memberships for some friends and renew at the same time . Can you give me a call? Do you still have my cell phone number? If not, let me know.

I will be in the mountains of western NC during the Oct show. That is kinda of close to Tenn.
Hopefully we will be shooting greenheads and grouse.

Take Care
David
