View Full Version : New jersey marsh birds

I was up in New jersey for Christmas with the family. One day we drove down to Cape May for the day. Towards the end of the day we drove by a little marsh that was kept up by the Nature Conservancy. I was able to get reasonably close to the birds and get a few pics. I only have a 200mm lens so this was the best i could do... They are pretty heavy crops so they aren't sharp at all.

We saw Brandt, pintails, Blacks, Mallards, wigeon, Eurasian wigeon, Gadwall and a few teal. Pretty cool little marsh. I would love to get back there with a longer lens one day. I had a guy in a motorized glider buzz by and kicked up the birds. Shorlty after that it sounded like an STA hunt on the other side of the road.

No hunting this trip. I go back up in early may for turkeys. My father in law has no interest in those birds from the salt marshes.

There is jewerly on the greenhead standing at the side of the marsh with his Mrs.

The fourth pic (the third isn't loading) is awesome. I love the middle drake, mid-flap, so pretty.
