Came upon a Browning a-500 for about $500.....it has the cool humpback design and screw in chokes. RIbbed barrel, stock is about 80%.....
Would love to have one in my collection. But I love to shoot my guns in the blind.
Question: Its obviously a newer design from the original a-5.....What is the history with this gun?
A quick google came up with some varied opinios
Is this a reliable shooter, or is it a paper weight?
Thanks

This sums it up pretty good for me.

They are great guns and the design has been made by almost every other major shotgun mfr at some time in the past. 500 bones for an 80% gun is not a bargain though. I assume it is either made in Japan or in Portugal if it is relatively new. Only a Belgium made gun (older) would be worth that price.

Thanks Pat, I did a search on that site and did not get the return you did.....
I am going to pass on that one.

New and unimproved design. John Moses would likely not have been impressed.
I found my A-5 Mag Stalker on Gunbroker.com for $500.00. It is a '93 model. Keep looking and you may find one.

I had one in the mid 90's. I gave it to my brother when he turned 16. He gave it back before he was 17. I would pass on it.

You know what I've always wanted was one of those twelvettes. One day I will buy myself one of those DU B-80's.
