Everglades Coordinating Council Meeting Report

The meeting of various hunting, ATV, airboat. etc., associations concentrated on postions to be presented at the FUTURE OF HUNTING IN FLORIDA conference to be held next week in Orlando. UW-F is in full support of issues concerning access to public land for recreation. Various ideas on how to improve hunting opportunities on public and private land were discussed.

Our friend, Byron Maharrey, was elected the new president.

Im curious as to how I guy like William Delgado President of the Latin Builder's Association gets appointed to the WRAC. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest? Here's a guy who has a vested interest in building and developing land for profit yet he is given a vote on matters that affect public access to public property!

Yes....and Bubba Wade, a big sugar executive, is on the WRAC. What they do is appoint advocates for a variety of positions. Fed., State, County, City, enviromental, agriculture, developers, etc. etc. on both the WRAC and the Board. Our guy is Rob Barton.

Yes I know and I am well aware of how dedicated he is the problem is that Mr. Delgado's and Mr. Fanjul's pockets are deeper than Rob's and ours put together. i think that is why I want to form one of those 50something corporations to think hard and soft money to benefit our cause. There are plenty of people out there with money like Bergeron or Nachon who might be willing to make donations that could be used to influence people who make decisions!
