The SFWMD's EAC meeting was this AM at the SFWMD's offices. This is the first meeting we have attended and did so at the invitation of the Chairman, Mr. John Marshall.

Mr. Marshall's pedigree is top shelf in the long term fight to save the Everglades, being the nephew of the late Arthur Marshall for whom the LOXAHATCHEE FEDERAL REFUGE is named. The committee is heavily weighted with enviromentalists as would be expected. There also are staff from the ARTHUR R. MARSHALL FOUNDATION. The Foundation is a major player in the public and political battles for the Everglades.

UW-F will be attending the meetings representing waterfowlers, and at this time is the only "consumptive" sports member.

Next meeting's guest will be Mrs. Wehle, the new SFWMD Director. This is a very intimate one table style gathering with a lot of one on one contact. The UW-F Newsletter and Projects were distributed and accepted with no negative reaction despite the group's obvious slant to enviromental issues. I was able to go over the extensive work and funding waterfowlers do for the good of the marshes everywhere.

I look forward to adding UW-F's opinons to this mix.
