SEND THE WATER SOUTH!
That seems to be the mantra heard over and over again by the St. Lucie River advocates, would that it were that simple. Here's a link to some reading about water levels in the glades.

That wasn't written by Big Sugar by the way.
I think the real answer may be KEEP THE WATER UP NORTH!. Lets get the Kissimmee River fully restored, make the development from Orlando south hold water on THEIR property for percolation into the aquifer. Once Large amounts of water get to Lake there is NO GOOD direction to send it.
I'd love to just blame this on Big Sugar, more often than not we are on different sides of the table, but that is just one part of the puzzle. I'm all in favor of buying all the EAA land and getting it into conservation as soon as possible but the fact is we could have all the EAA and still not have enough places to send water without doing damage to some natural system East, South or West.
FYI the WCA's have been closed because of high water levels south of the lake. Our members are reporting herds of deer escaping the rising water on the levees.
