I have asked this before but lost track of the answers I got. I have a 9 hp Go Devil long tail. I am looking for a boat replacement.
Can some people tell me from experience how a longtail does on the 15'4" Gheenoe? I have heard of problems like transom wash when stopping too fast, etc.
Thanks for any input.

You will not be happy Carl.... not with that 9hp on the back of it. The way that stern tapers just really doesn't work well. if you went gheenoe i would suggest stepping down to a lighter 7.5 mud motor.

The 9 would be a little heavy. Depending on what model you are looking at I have customers that are running 23hp Longtails on them and they run just fine but backwash is always an issue. If you want a mud motor go with a 6 or something tha tis lighter than the 9 unless it is a wide bottom and a tall transom on there then the 9 would be fine. Good luck!! If you are still looking for a boat there is a 14' jon in the classifieds a person is selling that would be a good choice for the 9hp.

Thanks guys. I am pretty sure a gheenoe also isnt wide enough or spacious enough for me. Besides, Stephen if I ever swamped and phone you to help you would never let me live it down after warning me.
Sid - do you ever have used boats maybe tradeins? Though I will probably get something locally, if you run across something special that a 9 hp Honda longtail can push -- and that doesnt cost a fortune, I might be interested. One last question, can you get me a prop for it for less than $150?

I have that Gheenuee with the 23HP long tail, but it is on a Classic 15'. That is a bit bigger than the other model. It can be a challange when turning, but does well in other area's. The Gheenuee will be much more stable when shooting out of it. Will you be hunting out of it or just getting there? Oh, when I lanch the boat with that heavy motor it can "dip" the transom under for a second or two.
