ALERT! Sediment dump site.

The Lake County Water Authority is about to start dredging the canals on Lake Griffin. They are planning to dump the dredgings on SJRM property on the East side of the lake. That would be Emerelda Marsh. I dont know where but I think it will be out at Treasure Island. Any one with accurate info please post up. Check out http://www.lcwa.org/ this will give you when and where the dredging will occur.

Will this help emerald or hurt it? If the web site is correct it is being use to restore damaged farm areas. But web site have been wrong in the past

The marsh is supposed to be a flow through filtration system for Lake Griffin. I dont think dumping the junk in the washing machine part of it will make the clothes any cleaner. But I am not a biologist or a water manager either.

I have sent an e-mail to LCWA asking them to confirm the dumpsite location,and the positive and negative impacts to the marsh. I will post the reply when I recieve it.

I can't imagine they would dump it in water. Maybe some area that is high and dry.

But like everything, we need to get a confirmation.
